Being from New England, Rebecca loves all things autumnal. She grew up in Massachusetts and went on to live in North Carolina, Iowa, and Connecticut before settling in New Hampshire, where she now resides. Having studied American Gothic Literature in graduate school, she named The Doughty Doughnut after Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow—combining her two favorite pastimes: reading and baking.

A gingerbread bundt cake with icing is shown on a cake stand for this recipe.
This gingerbread bundt cake is going to be the star of your Christmas dessert table. When it comes to gingerbread recipes, usually cookies steal the show. Cardamom Donuts

Tuesday, 01 January 2019 by Rebecca
This cardamom donuts recipe utilizes the spice both in the dough and the frosting.
These cardamom donuts are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. I’ve been really intrigued by the idea of integrating cardamom into more of my recipes ever since I first made Swedish cinnamon buns. Cardamom is a popular spice in Sweden, yet it rarely gets attention in the States. In this recipe, the cardamom is integrated

This pumpkin shaped cake is made with pumpkin puree and topped with orange buttercream frosting.
I’ve been dreaming about this pumpkin shaped cake recipe ever since I first noticed it in my favorite episode of Gilmore Girls, “A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving.” At the end of the episode, Lorelai and Rory return to Sookie’s house to find her happily drunk after Jackson and his family have deep fried the turkey, along

REBECCA

My love of baking didn't begin until my husband taught me how to use a Kitchen Aid mixer, but the rest is now history.

"There was the doughty doughnut, the tender oly koek, and the crisp and crumbling cruller; sweet cakes and short cakes, ginger cakes and honey cakes, and the whole family of cakes. And then there were apple pies, and peach pies, and pumpkin pies; besides slices of ham and smoked beef; and moreover delectable dishes of preserved plums, and peaches, and pears, and quinces; not to mention broiled shad and roasted chickens; together with bowls of milk and cream, all mingled higgledy-piggledy, pretty much as I have enumerated them, with the motherly teapot sending up its clouds of vapor from the midst."

-The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving
